Recently I sent an email to my Democratic opponent Blair Walsingham to ask her nicely for a debate, since she keeps saying she wants one, but she also keeps declining my offer. I wanted to know why, so I reached out to her. This is that email.
Hey Blair,
I hope all is well with you and the family. I am sure you must run around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to be mom, wife, and candidate all at the same time. You apparently have a lot of energy.
I would really like for us to debate; I know you want to debate Diana, but I think you know deep down that she will not give it to you. Will you do me the same way she is doing you? I hope not.
Both you and I need to get all the exposure we can. We are definitely underdogs in a race with all the cards stacked against us. This is Northeast TN. and we know it’s Republican Country. Diana knows she is the one to be crowned the queen. She is on her victory tour going all over the District having her power lunches, tours of factories, and meetings with all the right people.
It would be so impressive to the voters if you and I could have a civil debate, treat each other with respect, and discuss issues. I think you know we agree on almost everything anyway.
If not a debate, we could have a conversation where we sit and discuss issues. What a concept, huh? Especially if we could get it televised.
The bottom line is Diana has nothing to gain from a debate, and everything to lose, but to you and I it is the opposite. I think you have to see that.
