Only Live Interviews

I will no longer do pre-recorded interviews or interviews for newspapers. Sound bites can be very misleading, and the editing process very often leaves out the best part.

The truth is the media always presents things in a way that they think will give them the best ratings, and the truth is often sacrificed on the altar of sensationalism. Newspaper reporters are free to ignore any and all parts they don’t want to print, for whatever reason. Also, sometimes what they mistakenly think they understand, and then extrapolate on, can be detrimental to the person being interviewed.

I will continue to consider media interviews that will be aired live as we speak, ensuring I cannot be misrepresented. We all know about fake news and reporters giving their opinions mixed in with the facts. It happens a lot.

And we sometimes have reporters and media outlets with their own agenda. So, the moral of the story is, take it all with a grain of salt. We cannot believe all we see, hear, or think. And as Walter Cronkite used to say… “that’s the way it is.”
