I side with conservatives on a couple of issues, such as the 2nd Amendment. I believe we have a constitutional right to keep and bear arms. I fully support that. I also stand strongly against abortion, even though I do understand why some women choose to have one, for example, in the case of rape or incest. I agree that it is a serious decision, and I don’t like to judge anyone. I certainly don’t think anyone has the right to force a woman to have a child of a rapist. That would be very cruel.
Some people would say I should be a Republican if I feel strongly on these two issues, but I can’t call myself a Republican, even though at one time I was. I voted for Ronald Reagan, and the first George Bush the first time he ran, but by the second term I gave up on the Republican Party.
On most issues I agree with liberals, and make no apologies for that. I am proud to stand up for the poor, the minorities, the homeless, the unemployed, etc. and I don’t see the conservatives doing much of that. They are hell-bent on making sure no one gets something for free that they didn’t work hard for. That justifies everything for them, apparently.
For this reason many folks say I should be a Democrat, and there was a time I considered myself one, but that changed in 2020 after the DNC ruined Bernie Sanders chance of winning the party nomination, again.
Both times, in 2016 and in 2020 they screwed Bernie out of the win. Bernie had it won in 2016 but the DNC elevated Hilary Clinton, and in 2020 the DNC suddenly and without notice pushed Bernie aside and elevated Joe Biden as their leader.
These days I tend to agree with the leftists, or progressives. I am now seeing that the Democrats and the Republicans are just two wings of the same greedy, selfish bird, a.k.a. Capitalism.
Does that make me a socialist? I suppose so, at least I can take pride in that, even though that puts a target on my head for all the conservative crackpots to come against me, since they love to use the S word as if it were straight from the pits of hell, and many believe it actually is.
Oh well, so be it. I have mixed views on issues, but if I have to be labeled, I would be more comfortable being labeled a socialist these days than a supporter of the capitalist system, which is racist, classist, and downright demonically cold and heartless.
I said what I said.
