This blog is about a missing five year old girl from Rogersville, Tennessee, which is approximately 50 miles from where I live. She comes from a somewhat dysfunctional family. Both parents have criminal records and use alcohol and drugs regularly.
They are also not consistent with their stories about details and facts. It changes from time to time and from family member to family member.
There is a lot of local gossip and speculation about the family and the circumstances that led up to Summer’s disappearance on June 15, 2021.
Facebook has several groups devoted to the case and many angry and wacky people gather there to discuss their opinions and judgments about the family and even the church the family attends in Kingsport. Not everyone in these groups fit that description but a large portion of them do.
Twitter is another social media platform that has much speculation and reporting about the case. There are plenty of opinions and theories going around. Some of them make sense and some are just “out there.”
Let’s not leave out YouTube that that has numerous videos about the case.
Psychics are weighing in on it, and several search teams and private investigators are working on the case, either officially or unofficially. It has become a trend both locally and nationally.
Their church family has continued to support the traumatized family and I am proud of them for doing so. I am sure the family is going through hell now trying to live with whatever happened to little Summer.
In fact, the family has become famous and it seems to be “open season” for anyone and everyone to get themselves in to the story and spread their version of what happened and to spread lies and rumors widely, and possibly my writing this blog is me doing the same, but I have to get these things down in writing to help me deal with the trauma.
And it is traumatic for all of us who pray daily for the family, and especially Summer, who may or may not be still alive. The story and Summer have become a part of our lives and we cannot ignore it. It is a part of us now, whether we like it or not.
In conclusion, the case has taken a life of its own, and no one seems to be able to control the narrative. Was it an accident that is being covered up? Did she get kidnapped? Was she sold into human trafficking? Was she murdered and buried somewhere? Someone knows the answer to these questions, but as for now it is still a big mystery to be solved.
