Department of Children’s Services & the Summer Wells Case
In the state of Tennessee the DCS provides support services to children and families in order to promote their safety and well-being. They get involved from the beginning when there is a case of a missing child, especially if other children are in the household. They aim to protect all the children from further trauma or any kind of emotional or physical harm.
They also help law enforcement question the children in a way that does not traumatize them further. It is very hard on the whole family when a child goes missing.
In the Summer Wells case there are three young boys in the household, older than Summer, who is five. It has been reported that they are receiving some sort of counseling by a therapist. I don’t know for sure this is true. I hope they are.
There are many videos about this case on YouTube. Some are credible but most of them are just gossip or hearsay, often a TV show that is out to sensationalize everything and attract an audience.
Recently a team from Texas, EquuSearch, has announced that they are coming to search for Summer, even though other search teams have been here and had no success.
It has been said by a friend of the family that the various search teams coming to the area are competing with one another in order to get credit for finding the facts of this case.
All I can say for sure is the case is a mystery and it looks like the odds are low that we will find Summer safe and alive. Most folks now are assuming she was killed and the body hidden or disposed of in some way. I hope they are wrong. I would love for Summer to be found safe and sound.
