One of the Summer Wells discussion groups on facebook recently banned youtube videos because some people are using the case to get followers and subscribers. This is my reply to that thread.
I suppose I have to confess to being guilty of this. The whole thing with my podcast is to interview interesting people about interesting topics. Sometimes the guests don’t turn out to be as interesting as I thought they would be.
My video with the PI came about after she posted something in a special group for podcasters to find guests. She said she wanted to appear on podcasts. I had never interviewed a PI before and I thought she would be interesting so I booked her. Since I was going to interview her anyway I felt like it would be nice to ask her to study the Summer Wells case. She did read up on it via the internet. She was never “on the case.” She just did it because I asked her to. We both thought it would make the interview more interesting.
I admit I promoted the video as being more important than it turned out to be. That’s on me. I will do better. This case has turned into a big circus and lots of us are putting ourselves in the story in some way just by being here and talking about it daily. Are we wrong? I don’t know. Do we get a little too involved sometimes? Absolutely. I will accept my share of the blame, but please don’t judge me. Also, that particular episode is not indicative of what my podcast is all about. I generally don’t go for sensationalism, but I got caught up in the drama.
Just so you know, I have interviewed many important and interesting people. I have talked to conservatives, liberals, socialists, communists, paranormal investigators, mediums, tarot readers, life coaches, freemasons, pagans, a Vodun High Priestess, a world renowned UFO investigator, trans men and women, a porn star, politicians, artists, authors, actors, dancers, circus performers, ministers, teachers, business owners, and others. Some of them were very interesting, and some were not impressive at all.
Perhaps we should do a podcast with several of the people in this group to just chat about it in a panel discussion. Thoughts?
